WHO WAS HE?
Saint Polycarp was a bishop, a martyr, a catholic, a disciple of the apostle St. John the Evangelist and a human - just like everyone on this Earth. He wasn't an extraterrestrial or an angel - he was a human and thus, all young people should know that it is not impossible to be like him - just challenging. But with devotion to God and mercy towards others you can't go wrong.
Saint Polycarp's death was nothing short of amazing. He was bound to a stake to be burned alive. It was said that the flames, instead of burning his body to ashes as they should have, made a magnificent arc around his body. A soldier was then ordered the stab Polycarp in the side. The blood that poured out from his side extinguished the fire and the amazing life of Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna ended. |
