For a saint to fulfil this criteria they must have had great influence on the church and those around them; offering wisdom and ideas to those who ask or need either. They must have had an impact on another person or group of peoples' lives, changing them for the better through their actions, words and/ or spiritual guidance (prayer).
How does St. Polycarp fulfil this criteria?
Saint Polycarp had a great influence on the church and those around him as he influenced important Church decisions and wrote pieces of work with important and inspiring information within that impacted/ influenced many peoples lives - even today. Saint Polycarp also greatly inspired many Christians with his death as martyr. His death is what influenced many other Christians to stand up for their beliefs in God and to fight for them. Polycarp's written work - the letter to the Philippians - was also another influential piece of wisdom that he shared with many. Many people still read this work and are inspired and influenced to stay true to their God and to fight for what they believe in if it is for good not evil. Saint Polycarp is one of the most influential people of his time and thus fulfils this criteria.
